Since being a parent all my travel plans have resulted in searching for locations that are short-haul flights or have immense childcare facilities so with our very last child now born and one day maybe being able to take trips just Ollie further afield is a great prospect.
So here are my top 5 travel locations the adults would fly solo too:
t has always been one of the places I have always wanted to visit. With its vast white beaches and warm blue waters it really would be the stuff of dreams.
Teaming with island culture and historical underground caves, rum distilleries, rainforests and its colourful nightlife there is something for everyone one.
For a holiday like this, I would mix it up with both relaxing activities that ooze luxury and make sure I planned in time to explore what the island has to offer too
I have never visited Australia and there are masses of places I would like to visit there but Australia’s smallest state of Tasmania has always had me intrigued since being a child.
The best way to really explore the island is to fly over and then drive but being non-local don’t fret as car hire in Hobart airport is always an option.
On my list of places I want to visit while there I would love to visit Billabong Bay, which is a small coastal town on the southern end of the bay of fires.
Both have such amazing looking scenery and so it’s somewhere I would love to spend several days with my big camera exploring and taking as many photos as possible, especially since the granite rock formations on the bay of fires are coloured beautiful red and oranges hues.
I would also like to go into the outback and have more of a ‘experience’ of the wilderness and Corinna looks like it offers everything. I would love to try with its edge of the rainforest location there is the option to stay in a remote settlement, raft or kayak down the Pieman River and fish!
A few years ago I knew a lady that was about to embark on a 6 month backpacking tour and her list of things to do in Thailand made me immensely jealous and so it has been on list of must visit before I die locations.
Thailand is jam-packed with extremes from the bustling cultural street markets and tasty Thai food to sparkling white beaches and blue ocean and even showering in waterfalls.
Every once of my entertainment hating self-shudders at the thought of this mega busy cheesy entertainment packed choice but it’s just somewhere I have always wanted to travel to.
To play on the slots and walk around each night and sock up its exuberant nightlife, something this party animal gave up a very long time ago. reliving my youth with nights that never end with the mega party scene or to take in a show or 3 all before taking on some monster roller coasters before breakfast well ‘Sin City’ is certainly the place to do it!
For me it would be a once in a lifetime dream to visit Las Vegas … and once might be enough as keeping up late nights never work well for me. I am thinking it might make a great 40th birthday week away too!
I would love to slow things down for this visit and take in the sights of the Imperial Cities, Marrakech, Meknes, and Fes to wonder through the mosques, palaces and gardens and meander around the alleys where thriving marketplaces (souks) all sell traditional jewellery, textiles and pottery.
Taking a tour of the back streets I would love to see real life street snake charmers, musicians, and acrobats in and around the vibrant Djemma-el-Fna Square.
Gosh, what an utter dream to imagine packing a case for any of those destinations as I look out the window right now to the drizzle in the garden.
Where would you pick for your list of top child free destinations?
