For those of you that don’t read regularly, you may not know that my Dad is not my biological Dad .. don’t worry there is not a whole Jeremy Kyle story waiting to tumble out .. after divorce my Mum met and married my now Dad, they are my parents
He has not been in my life from the beginning but he is wholeheartedly the Dad I wished I had been privileged to have from the beginning.
This amazing man has been the most fantastic Grandad to my children and we all worship at how lucky we have been to have him in our lives… even when we are being a pain in the ass he still always has a smile for us. He is the Dad I always wished we had been born with.
Recently his Mum (Nanna Phyllis) celebrated her 90th Birthday and although she had been down south with other members of the family she arrived here in the East Midlands on Saturday where she was passing through only to continue her journey home further up the country.
This was probably the first time that I have had a real chance to talk with Nanna Phyllis without it being chaotically busy and I can honestly say she is an exceptionally amazing women. She was still driving till a few months back! .. she is such a dignified and strong lady that talking with her left me in awe.
It seems that nothing too much phases this lady, she will try her hand to even the most active of things even if only once. I hope that we get to spend some more time with her soon.
Her swift visit this weekend only made me think about how our parents help form the people we become, is it nurture or nature or is it in fact pure fluke at who we become?
Happy 90th Birthday Nanna Phyllis …. love The Oliver’s
