This week we are taking part again in the #NewThings Challenge, set by the folks at CSMA Club, who hope that each week by setting these challenges and trying something new it will make some memories for us and our Children, as its believed that trying something new leaves a lasting impression in your memory.
So this week it’s all change and in the spirit of things it’s now time to try a new food, now for a toddler that eats practically everything and yet a hubby who is the pickiest eater I know it was going to be a challenge to find a new food that all 4 of us would like.
That’s when it hit me that besides the standard couple of packet mix cupcakes Joshua has never really baked come to think of it … neither have I really. We both certainly had never eaten a pineapple upside down cake before!
So it was time to get out the limited baking supplies and make a cake from scratch!
So with some elbow grease, pineapple rings and a few glace cherries Joshua and I made this wonderful retro creation and we had so much fun we actually made 2 of them, both in our trusty pyrex as we are now converted to trying to use more glass to cook, bake and display in, after the Friends of Glass event the other week.
So our creation may not be the most exciting in terms of flavourings and content but what we did do was learn that maybe baking from scratch is not as hard as initially thoughts … and Joshua learnt that licking out the bowl is the best bit of creating something from scratch!
We may not be the greatest but we certainly had a fantastic time!
