Ok so we have been on the weaning journey a few months now and up till recently its been practically plain sailing.
Jacob has eaten mainly jarred/pouched foods but had enjoyed home cooked when we have had it too so he could chew/suck/maul.
Im not afraid to admit that whole baby led weaning aspect scared me as I spoon fed my previous 2 children and added finger foods mainly to top up and get them accustomed to eating different textures.
This time round it seemed that Jacob had decided that spoon feeding was the only way he wanted to eat and eating himself was in fact beneath him.
A couple of weeks ago things all changed and now Jacob demands to do all the holding, chewing, grabbing and tipping of any food substance he is expected to eat.
Gone are the easy feeding days, you know the 15-20 minute meal time. Now its at least an hour each meal time and the remaining aftermath of the kitchen floor takes a further 15 minutes and we are now at the stage that we are pretty much in a rolling feeding cycle.
As Jacobs 1st birthday is fast approaching we are now having at least one meal a day that is not baby food and he is getting excited by just about everything he eats.
However not beans … So far beans are spat back out with disgust.
Sandwiches are a massive hit for him as are cheese biscuits, although we have to ration those due to salt content!
This has now given us the incentive to make sure there are more family tea times at the table instead of meals on laps in the living room, now we can all join in with meals.
Although I am not looking forward to the clean up every time!
