Joshua at the moment goes to a really lovely local private nursery and has been going there for the last year. I have no doubt that the nursery have helped him come on in leaps and bounds … it is also the place that I have had to regularly pick him up for a physical extraction at his allotted end time as he cries and throws a paddy when home time comes.
When the nursery was looking for helpers for the trip to Wheelgate Family Theme Park I jumped at the chance.
When Beth was Joshua’s age I was working full-time and was a single parent so struggled to be involved in anything that her nursery were organising. Hence the excitement of being able to rearrange my normal working day to go and help … the joy of working for yourself!
When we arrived at the nursery the air was electric! with 28 pre schools, who many of them had been up since 5am according to the parents .. all excited and raring to go!
After an amazing amount of packing, organising, sorting and loading onto coaches the whole of the nursery including staff and helpers loaded onto 3 buses and set off the short journey to Wheelgate.
One of the other reasons I really was looking forward to visiting was that we live locally to this place and yet we had never ever visited before! I am now kicking myself as the park itself was amazing, it was well laid out, had some lovely rides and it also has the most amazing outdoor splash pool which the children adored! … although having said that the adults were equally as excited in the splash pool!
The whole day was fantastically thought out and I even had 3 little guys to guide too (although we all stayed pretty much as a group) we even had time for a tasty ice cream before loading the very happy and truly exhausted preschoolers onto the coach.
It really was fantastic to be able to share another first with my Son and also to bring back some memories of my childcare worker days (a was a nursery nurse in my teens, before deciding children weren’t for me! .. oh how things change)
I wonder what other firsts I will get over the next few weeks?! … I know it will hold annual passes for us all for Wheelgate thats a fact!
