We were recently asked if we would take a look at the new Octonauts Octopod Slime Playset from Mattel and we jumped at the chance.
Octonauts have been a family favourite for quite some time so it goes without saying Joshua was really excited.
When it arrived I loved how big it was, it;s aimed at 3+ years but it’s a nice size altogether, not too baby like for some and still more than playable with those nearing 6 like Joshua is.
It was really well packaged and I found I did need scissors to get it out but the really nice thing was the ease of set up as it only needed a few bits connecting and some stickers putting inside and it was ready for play.
The Octonauts Octopod comes with lights and even sayings in Octonauts voices. Included in the playset is Barnacles in his slime-green Octo-suit, a rescue net, a slimed octopus, a slime catapult and a container of extra gooey slim.
It is worth noting that online it says you need batteries as they are not included but out batteries were already fitted and it was working and ready for play practically straight away minus connecting a few simple bits.
There is a really cool escape hatch through the middle of the Octopod that actually fits Barnacles though (OK I thought this was mega cute)
Joshua is totally smitten with the playset and it blows all the other Octonauts sets out the water (excuse the pun) it has been really well thought out and the whole set is easily playable but not too forces so it allows little humans to build their own play and not be too rigid to the playset which for me is a super bonus.
Overall this has been one of the best played with sets we have had here at The Oliver’s Madhouse, well done Mattel this ones a corker.
