Throughout the last few years we have tried just about everything going for his eczema from oats in a pair of tights in the bath .. yes really!
It has been a super hard slog in terms of Joshua’s skin but we have made some massive breakthroughs over the last 12 months and so much so *touch wood* Joshua’s skin remains pretty clear from the condition 97% of the time these days.
The first months of having this condition, although being a sufferer myself I felt guilty and it became almost an obsession to read everything possible and to try everything … it was quite consuming.
Until I realised that what worked for one didn’t mean it would work for Joshua and that I needed to cut myself some slack, my son had eczema and it didn’t make me a bad Mum.
Last year after working with Oilatum on a previous project I was asked If I would like to support others in their journeys with Children with eczema by telling out story and answering questions that other people would ask and be honest as to how we have coped with the condition and what we found have worked for us.
So last year a film crew arrived at my house, along with the lovely bunch of ladies both from the PR firm and also Oilatum, I must say it really was a surreal experience for me!
Although I was nervous I soon felt more comfortable and I throughly loved being able to share my experience as a Mum.
A little while ago the video that I took part in finally made it onto the Oilatum website and I felt very humbled to play a very small part in hopefully making other parents feel less anxious and know that they are not alone.
