Recently we had the pleasure of dog sitting my parents beautiful labradoodle Bobby, she is cracking on in years these days but with no pets in our household other than one fish Joshua has loved Bobby since they day he saw this big fluffy creature.
In his really little years whenever she was about he never took her eyes off her and laughed with what seemed to be no reason, once he sat upright he would do anything possible to get her attention and woe betide her if she came too close to his high chair …. he would pull and pull with all his might at the tangled bearded under her chin and would allow him to pull and pull with no complaints.
It wasn’t long since that while learning to walk she would try to heard him and often knock him over in her excitedness to be watching over him, well that along with her inability to gauge her own size ratio in favour of seeing herself as the size of a Jack Russell instead, although this only added to Joshua’s giggles!
This week now he is 4 he is much more robust and he doesn’t get knocked over easily and she quite likes the fact he is rough and ready with her … although after an hour of silliness between them she now has to retreat to a quite corner just to get some rest.
Watching his little excited face during the week we had Bobby as a house guest really melted my heart to see just how much he adores this crazy, slightly stinky woofer…. Equally as magical was seeing just how much she worshiped him, pining for him at bedtime and almost sitting on him when he cried after hurting himself.
There really is something special between this boy and his beast.
