It’s no secret on my blog that for many years I was a single parent with my daughter
Beth and that for many of those years I found myself on online dating sites.
But how did I really find them?
Well, in terms of adult conversation there were some interesting conversations and certainly some one-sided versions that could not have been repeated…. Thank goodness for the blocking option! But I guess that’s just the same in the real life dating arena; you head out on a date with what you thought was a super guy from work only to find he is a self-centred individual and that in fact you really wouldn’t give him the time of day if you had known this before.
Online or real life, it’s about spending some time getting to know if the shoe fits so to speak …
My online dating journey certainly did not end in a happy ever after but what I did get out of it was a couple of amazing friends that really have over the years and supported me wholeheartedly in my endeavours even though there had been no spark there certainly was friendships.
But that was just me, I have been super grateful for many, many years to have the most amazing Step Dad who was indeed found on an online dating site! My Mum certainly had some amazing luck finally finding her soul mate and giving us the most amazing Dad and Granddad for my kids, who I could not imagine being without now!
Thankfully with each site you tend to be able to search for your soul mate by certain criteria and in certain areas like in Manchester Dating with MySingleFriend then you can search just on that or if you wanted to extend the search then that would be an option! I guess it depends on how far you want to travel!
I eventually found my true love when he emailed me a message through Facebook 17 years after we had been together as teenagers… so in a way my marriage is based slightly on being online, but whatever path you’re dating journey take you down, have fun, be safe and good luck!
