Recently we were sent some samples from the lovely Piccolo team to try their new range of baby food with Jacob to see what he thought of them and being the food monster he is we didn’t think he would object too much with trying them.
To be honest I hadn’t heard of this brand before but I do like to ensure that Jacob gets as much goodness as possible and the current range is based on a Mediterranean theme and is targeted as a stage one baby weaning food.
There are currently 6 different flavours, Spring Greens, Apple & Apricot, Banana Blueberry & Apple, Cherry & Yoghurt, Peach & Apple and Squash Red Pepper & Chickpea so there are lots of tastes to try.
I found the consistency of the pouches really great and super for when you make that giant leap onto solids.
The flavours stems from the Mediterranean way of eating which is naturally full of superfoods, crammed with vegetables, pulses, dairy, whole grains, fish & good, mono-unsaturated fats like olive oil. Which is why I loved the idea of introducing Jacob to it.
The consistency of the food was really sloppy, ideal for those first tastes and I found that it also made a great base to add pure baby rice into to give it a completely different texture to it too.
I think it would be fair to say that Jacob loved the pouches and even with some of the combos that I thought might be too different he wolfed down without any hesitation.
The only thing I am slightly disappointed with is the fact there is only stage one currently available as Jacob is about to move onto stage two. However a note on their website says the rest of the range will be available soon so heres hoping stage 2 is in there.
