My 2nd Blogger Guest Post this week is the beautiful Kerrie from the Wife, Mum, Student Bum. She lives in the Merseyside area, she works, has three gorgeous kids and if she isn’t busy enough she is studying for a history degree with the OU! After reading please do pop over and visit her and say hello.
If you are reading this, it is because Jaime is dealing with her domestic crisis – from what I hear she is having a rough old time, so she needed a bit of a little break to get things straight.
This got me thinking about how we bloggers actually manage our time. One thing that blogging has taught me is that all bloggers seem to manage their time so efficiently. No matter how many plates we seem to be spinning, we just manage. (Unless they get knocked out of our hands by say, I don’t know… a faulty boiler.)
So what I wanted to write about was time management. Jaime herself is no stranger to being a student, and as my blog title would suggest I also have my hands full. So, you know the old question “How do you manage?” Well…I’ll tell you.
Being a wife is naturally a bit of a job. I know it’s a bit of a cop-out to say it is work, but you know what – we might be in the twenty-first century and we might be modern feminists, but I still feel that there are certain ‘wife-jobs’ that I need to do. This includes cleaning down the back of the sofa and generally being an all-round Top Matriarch.
Jeez. I’m not just a Mum to three. I’m a nurse, I’m a cook, I’m a cleaner. I’m chief bottom-wiper. Need I say more? Well, in any case, no matter what I am doing – being a Mum is time consuming.
Yes I am a student bum. I use my NUS discount everywhere and I make cheap and easy teas. Although I can’t say that I have stooped down to Pot Noodles on toast, but each to their own!
I work three days a week as a PA. So as well as managing my own diary I have to manage other people’s. But I also get to experience some real-life adult conversation at my place of work so YAY for that.
Because I am so busy I feel like I have to blog about it all to make everything balance out. This makes no sense, I know.
So, if you are busy like me, I have included some handy time-saving tips that you may or may not wish to use as part of your busy lifestyle. You can thank me later.
#1 Toilet breaks – FORGET THEM. You can save at least 30 minutes of your day by avoiding toilet trips. JUST HOLD IT!
#2 Cooking – Cook everything in one pan to save time. Eggs, chips, beans. All in one big pan. YUMMY.
#3 Tidying –Toys everywhere? Just hoover them up. THE KIDS WILL NEVER KNOW
#4 Writing an Essay – Just copy and paste from Wikipedia. THAT OUGHT TO WORK
#5 Dishes? – Don’t wash them – just chuck them in the bin YAY TO TIME SAVING
That should leave you with plenty of extra time in your life. And if not, well – just do what I do and get up really early, go to bed really late. And work like a demon. Keep a busy, active, full life. Enjoy your kids, enjoy everything you do. And always ALWAYS make time for a sense of humour.
