Recently we were asked to try out The Royal Garden Hotel in London’s family package and as part of that one of the experiences we visited was the London Eye.
Now I am not going to lie. This part of the experience had me quaking as I don’t have a head for heights and even looking out of my bedroom window has me feeling rather sick!
When we arrived I was utterly quaking and trying hard not to let it show to Ollie and the kids but after a short queue waiting to get on it was nearly enough to make me back out.
Thankfully the short wait with our advance tickets didn’t put me off and I thanked our lucky stars that they were advance tickets since the normal queue was massive!
We had to get Jacob out of the pushchair as we needed to fold it down before getting aboard but within minutes of folding it we were all climbing aboard the capsule! along with other excited families and although Jacob was oblivious about it all. Joshua was beyond excited, dashing to the window to see out!
Even though I was apprehensive that it would make me feel really really ill I was thrilled to say that I am not sure why it didn’t make feel ill but it didn’t really bother me at all.
I was totally fine to stand near the window and the only thing that through me was when the capsule brackets (yep I am that technical) rotated at the top for around 10 seconds I felt a little queasy but it soon passed leaving me to take in the sights of London all around me.
It really was the most amazing sight! I would have loved to have traveled in the capsule with someone who knew London better to point out more of the sights than the obvious ones we spotted.
I am so glad that I didn’t back out and shy away from going on.
Although I don’t think I will ever be 100% happy with heights I am so pleased The London Eye didn’t defeat me and I got to make so many amazing memories of being on there with my family.

Well done for getting on with a fear of heights! I’ve been on it twice and the capsule rotating still makes my legs wobble.
