As Nottingham folk we are totally pants at adventures in our own city and since living here for the last 7 years I had wanted to discover what was on my doorstep.
However with my health being poor over the last few months it had got in the way side slightly.
The week between Christmas and New Year saw Ollie having an extra day off than we had not planned for we had the opportunity to take some time out with the family and discover somewhere new.
Even in the freezing weather conditions we headed to Wollaton Hall to have a walk and clear away the cobwebs of Christmas indulgence and we are so pleased we made the effort.
If you have not heard of Wollaton Hall then I think you probably have but didn’t realise it! Although this stunning mansion was built in 1580 most people have seen aspects of this stunning building from the Batman film The Dark Knight Rises, as this was filmed at Wollaton Hall!
Although we didn’t visit inside the Hall we did walk round some of the gardens and even discovered some new friends!
Under the canopy of the trees my much loved animals were playing and hunting for nuts like there was no tomorrow.
They were so cute they even decided that taking fruit from my hands was ok so I got to feed them.
Although they were slightly scared of Joshua.
I honestly could not have been more excited to make some new friends!
We adored Wollaton Hall and although we didn’t get round to looking inside the Hall or even discovering what else is on offer there we have decided that we are going to have to come back when the weather is warmer so we can do some more exploring.
2017 is going to be our year of exploring both near and far and I cant wait to see what it brings.
