The travel bug has well and truly hit now and knowing we can survive aboard with two young boys, and come home still married and with most of our hair means I can happily flick through travel brochures as I unwind and relax in the evening knowing Ollie may roll his eyes at my latest past-time but it probably won’t cause an argument – in fact, I am sure he has been looking at them when he thinks I’m not looking.
He may not yet be up for wild adventures, base jumping or climbing mountains but I actually think I may die if I tried those anyway, and after surgery it’s definitely not advisable, but I am sure we could manage a package holiday somewhere hot again seeing how much the boys enjoyed it, and as they get older it would me we could sneak in a date night/day or two if they happily went to the holiday kids clubs – night clubs may be off the agenda but a meal together or even a stroll down the beach hand in hand would be nice.
Cyprus holidays have lots to offer young families like ours and a few things we could do as a family are:
Taking a Jeep Safari
Jen, co-founder of Britmums shared her adventures in Cyprus a few years ago and I remember seeing her pictures on social media of this, I’m not sure if the boys are old enough yet but it really does look and sound an amazing experience – with lots for them to see on the trip, they would learn so much from this adventure and can you imagine the stories to be told at school?
Aphrodite Waterpark – Paphos
Paphos Aphrodite Waterpark is the BIGGEST WATERPARK in the Paphos region, a one-of-a-kind naturally landscaped aqua adventure centre.
Situated in Kato Paphos on the coastal road easily accessible by car or the local bus which drops off right on our doorstep!
This non-stop aquatic thrill features, high-speed water slides, an extensive lazy river, wave surge pool, lots of swimming areas and a spectacular kids water-play area, with food court and beverage areas spread throughout the park connected by a lush, tropical environments that are both immersive and interconnected.
Paleontology Museum – Larnaca
The boys are dinosaur lovers so I am sure this would be right up their street.
Popular exhibits here include bones from pygmy elephants and hippopotamus from before 10000 BC. A unique and enjoyable experience which I know we would all enjoy. They also add in a little extra fun for kids as they can collect shells while walking around the museum and then exchange them on the way out for a certificate – always good for the memory books and remembering all the fun they’ve had on holiday.
Dinosaur Land – Ayia Napa
Another which the boys would love. A new attraction in 2016, Dinoland is a family attraction in Ayia Napa which will appeal to small children. The small park is located close to Nissi Beach and features some great animatronics which will delight dinosaur fans.
The dinosaur models move and make noise and there are numerous information boards giving details about the different dinosaurs.
The park also has a small souvenir shop and offers the opportunity to sit on one of the dinosaurs, picnic benches are also available for picnics to help families keep down costs.
Located in the heart of a vibrant city, the marina development offers luxury apartments and exclusive villas with their own private berths or direct access to the beach. It’s highly desired Cyprus property, an outstanding collection of stylish homes, provide a unique retreat complete with a spa and fitness club, leisure and cultural facilities.
Limassol Marina can accommodate 650 yachts from 8m to 110m with a team of experienced professionals to ensure the smooth running of all operations. The boys love watching boats so this would be something they would love, I could even go shopping or we could dine overlooking the marina – who needs tablets or entertainment when you could watch that all day?
Of course, there are always the beaches and pools to keep us all amused.
Have you been with a young family? Where would you suggest to add to our list?
