Last weekend we decided to use some free time and take a trip out. So we packed the kids a packed lunch and headed off for beauty of Newstead Abbey.
When we got there we were super pleased to of arrived during the 999 event, which having never been to before we were excited. All departments of the emergency services were there including some amazing old service vehicles which we loved!
There were several demonstrations on including dog handler demonstration, a fire crew cutting out a ‘victim’ of car crash, helicopters and then even a real life emergency when the helimed had a call and had to rush to do a take off! … who knew they were so noisy?
Both children loved the activities, Beth in particular enjoyed the forensic team and Joshua loved the police dog … although I am sure police dog Fred would rather tackle a burglar than Joshua! So after seeing this immense event last weekend it got me thinking of what career my children may have and what would make them happy. Personally i think it would be nice for them to have a career although if I am honest I wouldn’t care what they did as long as it made them happy…..
Who knows maybe they will take on a career in the emergency services?
What ever happens till then we will certainly be enjoying visiting Newstead Abbey again even if its to get wet under that waterfall.
