Next to night time routines and potty training for me the third difficult stage is weaning so finding a high chair that is comfortable, Andy yet is easy to clean can be difficult.
Our home has limited space to store a high chair and so many are built so big and cumbersome that when we started looking to buy one initially we chickened out and bought a super cheap option and have hated it ever since.
However recently we were asked if we would like to try the OXO Tot Sprout chair and I have to say I was more than a little excited. It has a beautifully sturdy design but yet is still eye-catching and the new colour option of grey/grey which is the one we were sent is beautiful!
When the Sprout high chair arrived I was a little daunted by all the bits in the box, however after a quick skim of the detailed instructions there was no turning back and 10 minutes later I had a fully working impressive looking high chair.
If you haven’t come across the Sprout Chair before it’s designed for use from 6 months to 5 years and grows with each stage of child to ensure they are sat correctly with the ergonomically contoured back. What I loved about this chair is the ability for it grow and all alterations are tool free.!
With its height adjustable seat you literally just unclip the sides and pull the seat out and pop it back in lower until you hear the clicks and then you push the slide clips back in.
The footboard is also super easy to lower with its 2 little buttons that allow the board to be easily pulled out and re slotted in lower.
The Sprout Chair comes with a 5 point safety harness that is again easily adjustable and can also be easily removed once your child progresses to the next stage seat layout.
It has immensely impressive one hand tray adjust located on the front so even with the wiggliest tot or even with your other hand full you can pop on and off with total ease and the whole unit is impressively easy to wipe down compared to some others.
For me it the Sprouts fully formed seat unit was the clincher to my heart, it felt like Jacob was actually supported and not perched like some wooden style high chairs have gone for and seeing him sat correctly and comfortably made for a far less stressful mealtimes all around, no sliding, standing or trying to escape.
The padding was easily fitted (it has velcro on the seat it attached too) but it also has a soft feeling texture too which I thought was nice, especially as these days he is so mucky we tend to feed him in his vest!
I am so utterly thrilled with this beautiful high chair that I am so wishing we had gone down this route before. The colour options and quality totally sold it to me but the new grey/grey colour options is really rather special and I am so pleased this is the one we were sent.
After considering spending nearly double the cost of the OXO tot Sprout Chair (£205) on an alternative brand in the high chair field I am so glad we didn’t.
Style, comfort and ease of use are in abundance with this lovely high chair and even though I like to share with my readers any slight negatives I honestly can’t say I have found any … I for one am LOVING it!
