Well, a few months ago I started on my Bio Sculpture nail technician journey and its one that has been filled ups and downs if I am honest.
When I started the Bio Sculpture journey I was a ball of nerves and anxiety over starting a new career into something I had only ever paid others to do for me. After all I couldn’t possibly be able to learn to use this premium nail brands products, could I?
From my first training dayI was hooked, The Educator was full of enthusiasm and she ignited my new found nail passion and I was so eager to learn everything posable I went home and signed up for another element of the training, the lengthening course. And if I am honest I am so glad I did. I have loved every element of the beginners training course but the lengthening course was by far my favourite aspect. Something clicked for me on that course and I honestly can’t get enough of sculpting nails. I know it’s an art form and I know I am getting better and better with each set.
Last week my Grandma passed away and me with lots of other things happening in my life I had a total freak out moment and questioned my own ability even after practicing over and over again so the lady that used to do my nails let me spend the morning with her watching and asking questions and I got another 3 sets of nails in to practice on.
Even with the extra practice and knowing I had probably completed around 20 sets of nails I was still worried and my wonderful best friend and I travelled to Wetherby on Monday inwardly I was totally convinced I was going to fail.
On arriving one of the other lovely nail technicians Lucy from Sheffield based SuperNatural Nailsheaded over with the most beautiful gift and the biggest of hugs after hearing last week about my Gran and it helped ease the nerves a little too to know she was having her assessment too.
Helene who has been my Educator for all my training days was also there for my assessment day and she instantly put me at ease. As the assessment started my hand was shaking badly and I wasn’t sure if I was going to puke but having my bestie there with me I tried to keep focussed and she knows me so well she knew when to make me laugh and when to keep silent making me feel more at ease.
I had to complete several nail sculpture extensions, tip extensions, overlays and silk repairs and even with after a mini ‘oh shit’ moment finding out I was the only one doing the lengthening section meaning I was going to be left working after everyone left as my assessment was 2.5 hours long instead of just the gel overlays at 2 hours I refocused and kept on going.
With each element being checked off I felt a little bit more relieved and after completing everything it was the moment of truth ….
I was so relieved that I did actually go in for a full-on hug with the Educator (Sorry about the Helene, invading peoples space is not my normal stance) But what I loved was the time she took after explaining how to make my work even better with even more practice and how she explained what I had done well and how to keep improving with other areas.
I have loved how proactive this journey has been, the support that I have received not only in my training days with Helene but also online and over social media too. Bio Sculpture have been nothing but supportive and I am so very glad I have had this opportunity. Initially I was given the Beginners Training package for sharing my journey with you, however I have bought further training packages myself and have paid for more kit to customise what I can offer my own clients if I choose to go mobile instead of saloon based.
It has been an amazing journey and one that I can’t wait to keep learning on with other courses still available for me to purchase and learn.
Thank you, Bio Sculpture, for allowing me to not only test myself on learning something new but for allowing me to take my working from home in another direction beyond blogging …
Here is the next chapter!
P.s Lucy passed too so if you are in the Sheffield area do look her up!
Disclaimer: I was given some elements of the Beginners Training package for the purposes of sharing my journey, However I have paid for some things myself and all thoughts and opinions have been independently formed
