OK I know for many the thought of organising for the school holidays that are 3 -4 weeks away maybe slightly mad …. And then top it off planning a trip to Wales may also be slightly bonkers as in fact it’s not exactly guaranteed sunshine capital and it certainly isn’t an exotic location either come to that when you have the whole world to pick from.
Regardless of the above however I have always wanted to discover more of Wales and South Wales specifically.
My last trip to Wales was when Beth was small and for the duration of the trip I got to explore some beautiful countryside and some breathtaking scenery, but I knew at the time that it had so much more to offer than the minuscule amount I managed to cram into those 2 days.
As Joshua starts school this September I made a pact to myself to take every second on offer with him before his start date and explore and make memories for us all and so Wales has to go on our list of places to visit this Summer, however with funds on the low side we would be looking at make the trip as cost-effective as possible with picnic lunches and reasonably priced accommodation such as that at the Holiday Inn in Cardiff City Centre – which also would make for an ideal base to travel round from as it happens too!
I would love to take the kids to the Cardiff Castle which is steeped in over 2,000 years of history and located right within the city!
Not only that I would love to visit the Cardiff Millennium Centre too! With so many fantastic shows to see on the inside … the outside has me completely intrigued, with its beautiful iconic looks and its shimmering frontage I would have to make sure this was certainly on my list!
I would also secretly love to visit the Dr Who Experience, however I fear by even mentioning that one Hubs will berate me forever more, in my early years I was quite fond of an episode or two of Dr Who and lets face it … it certainly wouldn’t be something we did everyday so maybe he could check out the local bars while I take the kids?
I am sure there are lots more things to do in Cardiff and surrounding areas so if there is something I have missed that I must do while there please do let me know!
