Last week Poundworld launched is new Poundworld Plus store in the Trinity Square Branch in Nottingham and we were invited to take a look round the store.
Those of you that know me on a more personal level will be aware of my love for organising and shopping for all things home, from cleaning products to food and the Trinity Square store of Poundworld was and still is a regular contributor to my cupboards before it upgraded to the new Poundworld Plus.
I am not going to lie, initially I was sceptical that a store that sold items for £1 would be able to mix the £1 items with higher priced items and I would still feel that value for money that I felt before so visiting and doing some shopping were the order of the day.
On arrival to the Trinity Square Poundworld Plus store it was nice to see that they had kept the frontage just as recognisable as before and on entering the initial aisles were supporting products I had only seen in the managers specials previously.
On those first aisles I immediately got fairly excited, obviously there were still some of the old favourite there for £1 but there seemed to be some highly recognisable brand names.
Being a parent of several children and one of them being a weaning baby I get through masses of Vanish crystal white stain remover and with a whole £2 less then the High Street supermarket I usually purchase it in making it a mega £5 for a 1.5kg tub …. I was eager to see what other things I would find.
I was really pleased to see that the transition into stocking a mixed price range of items was not one that would alienate those looking at spending their money on just £1 priced items. There was a really generous mix between the differing pay scales, however from a savvy shoppers point of view it was nice to have the choice of having more of the brand name offerings at a lower price too coexisting with the £1 bargain items too.
On being shown round the store it seems I was not alone in my thoughts of the new lines and pricing as so many people commented on how ‘great’ the store looked and on how much better the choice was. Only one negative comment was privy to my ears and that was from a lady who had obviously been shopping in store for a number of years and disgust was aimed at the fact that some of the product aisles have changed around and it meant learning where everything is again … even with massive signage telling you what was on an aisle there really is no pleasing some people.
Some of my personal favourite in the Poundworld Plus store is the baby aisle which has some amazingly priced branded and non branded items! … 9 Pampers size for nappies £1! and also a staggering amount of baby wipes in a varying array of prices!
Why not top it off with Tommee Tippee twin pack dummies for £3!
As a regular customer of this store I have to say my initial concerns of how the £1 items would marry up with the mixed priced items was totally blown out of the water as there really is a great range of products on offer for every budget and if this store is anything to go by I have no doubt there will be more to follow.
After all with purse strings having to be pulled in a little tighter for most these days being a little bit more shopping savvy is certainly the way forward.
