Pregnancy – 20 Week Anomaly Scan

Pregnancy - 20 Week Anomaly Scan The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseI can’t quite believe it has almost been 2 weeks since we were back at the hospital having our anomaly scan for this pregnancy, it’s almost like we kind of got to 12 weeks scan and it became real and then life has been so busy we have almost forgotten again about the fact we are having another baby.

With my last pregnancy It had been so complicated that I had spent more time in hospital than I had at home so its been completely about as completely different as you could get!

I love our hospital for scan appointments, they have pretty much run on time for all 3 of my pregnancies even if that can’t be said for the antennal appointments, so we didn’t have to wait long to go in this time which is always great when you arrive with a full bladder as requested!

This scan was by far our longest and more detailed than any we had previously as the Sonographer spent the best part of 40 -45 minutes checking, measuring and even explaining every part of our sons body from his brain to his toes with each image she took the time to explain what she was looking for and what she was seeing and I have to say it was by far the most exciting scan we have had.

I do have to admit for a split second I did think that maybe she was looking as she thought there was something wrong and it seems I was right …. my little wiggler decided to make it impossible to measure and view his heart so she was battling to try to see it…. so although everything else on the list looked good I still have to go back this week to have another scan to make sure she can take the measurement of his heart that are needed.

Part of me is excited at getting the chance to see Pickles again on the screen but there is always a little niggle and massive hope that it really is a tick box job and nothing more.

Your pregnancy seems to be whizzing by. Glad everything was fine and I’m sure the other measurement will come out fine too. Nice to get an extra scan.

Aww, baby scans are amazing ๐Ÿ™‚ I feel so sorry for our grandparents who didn’t get to do things like this, it’s amazing to get to see your baby before they are born.

It is good they are being so thorough and I am sure that everything is absolutley fine but I understand your worry as I had lots of scans with all of mine, mainly for issues with me, but they did think something was wrong with Callan’s kidneys – of course he was fine!

I had the same problem with one of my babies and everything was fine. I loved that I got to see him twice though as I only had the standard two scans

Two of mine were awkward so and sos for their scans, and I had to go back extra times so they could check all was well – which it was. I warn you though, they are just as awkward out of the womb as they were in it! ๐Ÿ˜‰ xx
