Jacob is now 22 months and although his speech is slightly lazy compared to his grunts and points he has started acknowledging when his nappy needs changing
He is now rather vocal about filling his pants and will go and fetch the changing mat for fun and even lie down so we have started to think about the next stage of the journey, potty training.
This being the third child I am going to go through potty training with I can say that there are some pretty big mistakes I made with Beth and Joshua. Timings were crucial. Thinking you can crack it in a week is slightly deluded although knowing when to cancel all out of the out of the house plans and baton down the hatches at home with the antibac wipes and many pairs of toddler pants is the key to making the first steps. Although preparing by getting in the right kit helps.
Joshua worked his way through 4 small potties while on his potty journey and screamed the place down with them. I gave in and took him to a large nursery retailers to pick out his own potty.
Joshua’s first choice of potty involved something more substantial when he picked out a BabyBjorn Potty Chair and it seemed to help with the comfort factor as he sat for hours sometimes just chilling while going through the motions .. literally.
So now we are on the cusp of starting Jacobs potty journey we were thrilled to introduce Joshua’s potty love to Jacob with the BabyBjorn Potty Chair. This really is the throne of all thrones for any toddler.
The BabyBjorn Potty Chair has a higher back than most potties and little arm rests helping to make it comfortable with its ergonomic design. Personally I loved the super wide base with a rubber rim that helps to stop tipping. The best design feature hands down for me is the removable inner potty which makes cleaning it super easy as it lifts out and leaves the main potty in situ.
So far the introduction has gone down well with Jacob. He seems keen to sit on it and will even pick it up and move it like a real seat to watch his programmes if the mood takes him.
Next stage of potty training we are ready for you!
When did you know it was time to start potty training your little people?
