I am not going to lie, the worst stage of baby and toddlerhood for me is potty and toilet training.
Each and every child hits this phase at different times and reacts differently but what I do know is making it fun and putting in some groundwork first is a must.
Recently we had the pleasure of taking delivery of the new Harper Collins ‘Bing’ book, All Aboard the Toilet Train which shares the journey of Bing learning to use the toilet and with Bing being a character Jacob’s loves we knew he would love the book and hopefully the story would help Jacob understand that nappies were going to go and that the potty or toilet were in!
The book has a beautiful story in simple easy to understand words that are obviously age appropriate and its hard pages and beautiful pictures were really engaging for little fingers, not to mention the little button that plays a train sounds and says, “wee wee” that Jacob finds hilarious!
So far, the All Aboard the Toilet Train book has been incredibly well loved and has been on pushchair school runs, in the car and even to bed. What has also been really lovely is that Jacob has started to understand what the potty is for and is taking great delight in sitting on the potty, although we have yet to manage a wee on there yet.
I do think that this beautiful book has been a really fun way of taking the next step in the potty-training journey for us and the next step is going to involve lots of new big boy pants and a week at home with no plans to keep enforcing it’s a great new stage to be going through like it portrays in the story book.
Here’s to a great book, and toddlerhood.
