This week has been a pig of a week, with redecorating coming out of my ears and a major issue with the original workman being unable to fit the limestone fireplace I have had more time than I imagined to envisage the finished result.
My urge to redecorate came a few months ago but after a new boiler being installed led to our revolting back boiler and fire being taken out it was time to titivate and crack out the wallpaper scrapers.
I have been unsure of the new colour scheme which in fact saw Ollie and I having a, how shall I put it ..
all out war ‘Matrimonial Discussion’ in the middle of the shop which was only resolved with the help of 2 employees offering up the most revolting green paint … yet it had been pre-agreed that whatever we bought on that trip stayed …
Well it lasted less than a day before I returned on my own and purchased a new colour!
This week I have been taking a look back on how my living room ultimately came to be! After moving in with Beth nearly 4 years ago we were on limited funds so it really was a make do and mend kind of operation.
The very original fireplace was awful with its ugly stone and the fact it ate into the room drastically. Although at the time I wanted to remove the fireplace and fire I was struggling as not only were funds tight but with it being attached to the old back boiler we were stuck with the fire. However come hell or high water that fireplace had to go!
So after a purchase from e-bay a not quite so nasty fireplace and some fluttering of eye lashes to the guy that was doing other work in the house the appalling fireplace was removed and the £25 purchase was installed.
I never liked it but it was certainly better than its predecessor!
I was super bold with the feature wall and the brown shade I used, in fact I have yet to find a brown that is darker.
My furniture came from Argos, super cheap, which now shows as it all drops to pieces each day.
My Sofas were again another cheap find from eBay. I have always hated them as I have a 3 seater and 2 seater but due to the rooms’ shape they have to be lined up, so it’s like we are all sat in a row.
Having this very unsocial arrangement that I find incredibly frustrating and although I would love to be able to have one made for us, which you can now do! From Hello Sofas …. You can choose the size of the sofa adjusting the width, length, and height of a sofa. On top of that you can even choose from 15 colours in over 11 textures!
I am so loving the fact my living room is becoming the space I had in my head as each day goes by, and that the new fireplace and decoration is so much more ‘us’ .. although still not 100% finished I can finally start looking at saving for my new furniture …. or maybe finally just getting the painting on the wall will help!
