Just before Christmas while visiting my Mum I was very pleasantly surprised to see some old photos that my Mum had been sorting through one of which was this one:
This is my Grandad Fred and my sister and I, probably around Joshua’s age (nearly 3) I remember seeing this while I was growing up and it had always remained one of my most favourite pictures of my Grandad.
It brings back so many memories although he passed away so very young at age 60 and my sister and I were still very young I remember many things that make me smile inside and out about him.
We visited my grandparents house most Sundays for lunch and each time we visited my Grandad would pick my sister and I up (one in each arm) and we would watch for the cuckoo to come out the clock in the dinning room.
I remember the most amazing Sunday lunches with the tastiest gravy I have ever had followed by my Grandad serving my sister and I with a cup of gravy in a really distinctive pyrex cup from the dinner set and jam covered Yorkshire puddings all just for us.
My memories of my Grandad will remain forever although I will always feel sad that the most kind hearted gentle man, never got chance to meet my children. However I know for a fact that if they had met him they would of wrapped him round their little fingers too like Katie and I did.
Sometimes even the saddest memories can be a special memory too.
