Very recently I was asked if Bethany (age 13) and I would like to select some key uniform pieces from the BHS school uniform range …. and I was excited.
Now from a personal perspective I have always bought uniform for Beth from BHS in the past (with the exception of her blazer).. why? well for starters it has always lasted, and when I was a single parent this had to be the case. Although it was never the cheapest option it more than made up for it in the fact her uniform would last the year through and more besides when she didn’t get marker pen in the pockets or forget her apron in Tech and stain things to kingdom come!
The first year of secondary school was my worst ever nightmare … with a whole new uniform to buy and how do i put this delicately .. she was a far more round then she is right now … if you get my gist? and back to BHS I went and discovered they had that covered too with their generous fit range too!
So back to the current review pieces, the shirts were a double pack with hard collars and short sleeves coming in at £10 for 2 and the skirt was a £12 but what I am so thoroughly excited about was the blazer .. Beth’s school is blazer essential and the one she currently has come from the school uniform supplier as at the time she started secondary school I did not know that you could buy the badges separately to sew on the pocket … it was very very expensive at nearly £45 and it has never fitted well.
So when the blazer from BHS arrived I was like a kid in a candy shop! .. At £20 this blazer is fantastic in my opinion it has the luxury of having several inside pockets (one zipped) that are stitched beautifully it fits well and best of all (along with the price) Beth loved it.
I had expected quality items as I had used BHS in the past and I was not wrong, I loved the range of sizing available which I think is really important especially in the senior girls range with the tweens and teens being of all shapes and sizes.
Price wise, like I said previously, they are not a cheapest on the market and for the senior girls stuff, some is rather pricey, but having had their uniform before and knowing how well it lasted for me it has been worth it and so I can justify paying that little bit more for quality items that I know will last.
