So when recently I was asked if I would like to review the Bosch Athlet 18v Cordless Vacuum Cleaner I have to say I was a little excited. The Bosch Athlet has many unique features like its new fangled HighPower AllFloor brush and its Unique SensorBagless™ Technology, but all that being said what is it really like to use?
Well first off when it arrived I was really impressed in fact It seemed like I had been handed over an empty parcel … Thankfully that was not the case and there was a vacuum cleaner in there!
It comes with 4 pieces in the box, the main vacuum body, vacuum head, handle and charging cable and to put together it takes mere seconds, as all the parts slot easily into the right place with no fuss or hassle.
My first impressions if I am going to remain honest was that no way would this little vacuum be able to tackle what my big vacuum does … and win!
So for the last 3 weeks (including the run up to the Christmas holidays) I have been using the vacuum as I would my big heavyweight family vacuum and although its build quality and design are exactly as you expect from Bosch I have to say I was at the beginning really reserved about how well it would actually pick up the dirt and debris.
Well I needn’t have worried, on a par with my other branded vacuum cleaners I have to say I was shocked, this little lightweight machine really does pack a punch with its dust and debris collection and all in such a minuscule lightweight machine. It easily gets under the edges of furniture and seems to move quite freely when navigating round obstacles.
The Bosch 18v Athlet vacuum cleaner comes with 3 settings .. 1, 2 and turbo and with a charge it will then give you approximately 40 mins on a number 1 … if you are constantly using a turbo setting then it will be less than the 40 minutes so you do need to bare that in mind.
Its easy quick release debris collection unit is obviously smaller than a standard full size upright and so even though it packs in a fair amount in there it will mean emptying more, however for me gaining the ability to take it up and downstairs on my own without putting out my back or waiting for my husband is a complete trade-off I am loving.
The only downside to this product is that there is no hose or accessories for this particular model so really getting into the nooks and crannies might be a little more difficult or if you use it for cobwebs in the corners of rooms, but for day-to-day use its super and for me I think I will just buy a feather duster instead! … however if you are someone who does think that the need for hoses and accessories would be a deal breaker, fear not as that the Bosch Athlet’s sister model the 25.5v LithiumPower Cordless vacuum will be right up your street!
Thank you Bosch for testing my boundaries and proving me wrong!
