After a major drama a few months ago and by that I mean my ironing board collapsed and threw my iron at the floor, burning my living room carpet and then breaking my much-loved Philips Speedcare Iron I was feeling slightly bereft … madness I know but with ironing being one of my least favourite tasks and finally discovering something that actually cut my ironing time down I was worried I would be tied to the new ironing board once again!
On hearing my plight the fantastic folks at Philips sent me out a PerfectCare Pure Steam Generator Iron to see if this one was as good or better than the last one and with about 5 weeks worth of ironing winking at me every time I passed by it certainly was going to take some doing to clear the ironing back log so could this iron be as good as my last?
Taking it out the box I loved the look of the iron and really liked the position of the handle and the fact this iron came with the ability to tidy the cables!
This particular iron comes with several unique features that I found really helpful such as the automated temperature control so no more changing dials to different fabrics … initially this had worried me, but actually after all this time there has been no burnt items so it’s obviously far more intelligent than I had been being in charge of the temperature control!
The anti scaling cartridge that fits into this iron is pure genius in my book, we live in a very hard water area and this often in the past has left us with a massive amount of scaling and so something that will tackle the hard water before it becomes an issue is a bonus in my book!
This Philips PerfectCare Pure Steam Generator Iron has a bigger water tank than my previous one and since the temperature is automatic it has by far made my ironing hatred less vicious as now its done even quicker than before…. Now that’s perfect in my book!

Both Hubby and I wear uniforms to work and now that LP is at school our ironing pile is increasing. Hubby has always sworn by steam generator irons but I haven’t ironed in years. His iron is on it’s last legs and we’ve been looking to invest in a new one – this could well be it. But would it get me to iron…? I’m not sure! x
Lindy Hamilton says
Oh no, what a disaster with your ironing board breaking 🙁 Although, your new iron looks fantastic! I hate ironing but I wouldn’t mind using this fantastic machine for when I have to.
Jen aka Muminthemadhouse says
I hate ironing. Even with my steam generator., I have outsourced it now!
Louise says
I love a good steam iron which is so sad I know! When they invent one that does the job for you I will be even happier 🙂
JuggleMum, Nadine Hill says
I have to say I love my steam generator iron! It cuts through the pile very quickly!!
Sarah Bailey says
I’ve often looked at these types of irons and wondered what they are like so thank you! x
Joanne Dewberry says
Shhhh don’t tell anyone but I don’t iron anything! If I did this looks like a great iron as we too live in a hard water area!
Erica Price says
This is just what we need. Our last steam generating iron started smoking (after some years of use) and had to hastily deposited outside for safety. Now we are just using a standard iron, but I miss my steam generating iron. I like the sound of the antiscale cartridge too.
Rachel In Real Life says
I am not a fan of ironing (lets face it, who is?) but I do like the sound of this one. On the rare occasion I do iron I, more often than not, find I start and the dial is up too high as my husband always has it whacked right up for his jeans. This would be a great feature but like Donna, am still not sure it will actually make me do any ironing…

This looks like a great product. I have to confess that I avoid ironing as much as possible and rarely iron anything. A tumble dryer on nearly-dry clothes does a good job of removing most creases for me!
The Mummy Diary says
Sounds brilliant, I loath ironing which is why my pile is so big *hangs head in shame* we have had our steam generator iron for many years now (although it’s on it’s last legs with a bit of string holding the steam pipe up) and I wouldn’t be without it. They are amazing and cut through the time spent on ironing. May have to get on of these next 🙂

The ironing saga continues! I only iron for weddings and job interviews, but I do love reading about your exploits xx
Charly Dove says
Ooh this looks rather fabulous Jaime, I hope the carpet is doing alright. We suddenly realised our iron was a wedding gift the other day. It’s on its last legs but has done brilliantly – it’s our 11th wedding anniversary tomorrow!
Clare aka Emmy's Mummy says
I have a confession to make….I don’t iron.
Paul moans but in being told if he wants it done to do himself he suddenly doesn’t mind creased shirts lol
Jaime says

Gemma says
