When the opportunity arose to review Walkers Mighty Light Crisps I was super excited, and why? …….. I’m on a diet and have been for a year and half with a current 4.5 stone loss! So why have I been excited? firstly Walkers Mighty Lights are ridged crisps which are my favourite and secondly they are 30% less fat than standard crisps and are made from real potato and contain no artificial colours or preservatives and no MSG. Yippee!!
Now crisps have been my downfall while I have been loosing weight I have tried to avoid crisps if I am honest, due to the high fat content but since hands down I would rather have crisps than fruit or chocolate its been a failing mission! I think for the last year and a half I must of tried every lower fat crisp option there is but lower fat crisps have tended to taste bland and if I am honest a little stale. So I was not holding out much hope……
What The Oliver’s Thought About Them:
The first major hurdle for us were being crunchy when you bite them, lets face it who wants a soggy crisp? .. or for that matter something so hard to bite it takes out your front teeth? However I can assure you that these have a perfect balance on that front!
Now is it just me, but are some crisps little blighter’s and leave a greasy after taste?… well I have found that in the past and again these are not those crisps! They are light and crispy with the right amount of flavour …. does any one really want to eat crisps and still taste them 3 hours later .. nope not me so these were fantastic.
Although we loved all three flavours we had a really clear favourite, that being the Roast Chicken flavour they were lovely, and while shopping today I have in fact bought another pack!
So with being a healthier crisp option and flavour, taste and price all ticked we have been super impressed with them and the bonus is that all the flavours are suitable for vegetarians and don’t contain nuts!
Bethany who has packed lunches my now be getting a new product in her lunch at the start of the school year …. although if she wants the Roast Chicken she can think again! …. they are mine!
Joshua age 2’s response: “MORE” and “I need them” … however even for an useless cook I fear multiple packets are not the way forward, as I’m not sharing with him either!
So It seems that they have been a hit all round! I may just have to store them in the boot of my car and hide the keys or I may not ever get a look in again!
