It’s a well documented fact here on my blog that I like to find products and brands that can help assist in my making healthier choices in life.
I am not naturally a healthy choice person so anything that is easy to pick and does a great job at keeping me healthy has my vote.
Since I am currently breastfeeding my nearly 2 months old baby I have been looking for food, drinks and snacks that will help me keep on top of my healthy choices and maximise getting the goodness I need onboard to carry on feeding my son.
I am not sure why its taken me to be breastfeeding to look at smoothies as an option to pack my diet with more fruits and vegetables since I do in fact love both, but I guess with many of my favourite vegetables and fruits some preparation is needed so finding a way to take them onboard without any preparation is a bonus for me.
Recently I was sent a really intriguing package and I have to say I was rather looking forward to opening the parcel!
The kind folks at Savse sent me their cold pressed, 100% natural, no added sugar smoothies to try out here at The Oliver’s Madhouse and I was totally looking forward to trying them!
Now right of the bat I am going to say that having read some of the ingredients on some of the flavours I was a little nervous … for example the Super Green … Pear, Broccoli, Kiwi, Lemon, Banana, Kale, Spinach and Apple … I adore all of these flavours but together they had me anxious!
If you haven’t heard of this brand before it was established back in 2013 and aimed to revolutionise the ‘healthy’ drinks industry, however the smoothie ideas go much further back for this company as it was inspired by the founders Mum Nina.
The award winning product is based on the idea of cold pressing the fruit and veg to keep it fresh without compromising the product and its 100% natural with no added sugar making it a healthier choice.
But the big question was ……. Did we like it?
From the beginning I had in my head which ones I would automatically love and I have to say … I was wrong, I liked them all apart from the Super Orange, which but yet it was Joshua’s favourite!
I loved how diverse the flavours and the consistencies were not as thick as I was expecting either!
Ollie’s flavour choice was totally different from mine and since he hates most vegetables and is picky with fruits I was pleasantly surprised to find by not allowing him to know what was in each he picked some flavours that contained fruits and vegetables that he claimed he disliked … so even if you think you won’t like it, it showed us thats not the case and is so worth a try.
We drank ours from the fridge as thats where they are supposed to be kept but I have discovered I like them better packed with ice as they are really refreshing.
Although we don’t buy smoothies regularly I would certainly select one instead of a fizzy pop option in the future.
