I think everyone that has ever worked with colleagues has worked with that ‘one’ person who actually stinks!
My Poor friend used to update her status on Facebook most mornings about her ride on the bus into work and what nasty niff would await her.
I can now luckily smile to myself as I work from home on my own and dont have to suffer the stink. However I did used to work in the most awful factory that had one guy who made your eyes water when you were within 50 yards of him, add that to the appalling canteen and unhygienic toilets that just made you gag and I am pleased to say working from home is certainly has more benefits than negatives!
I also remember working at a massive High Street supermarket and my mum who also worked there had an accident where she fell from a kickstool as it was broken and even after 6 weeks of being in cast and unable to work they still treated her appallingly and replaced all the kickstools in less than 24 hours after the accident to cover up they were at fault.
Although it was a really appalling behaviours on their part unfortunately it seems that so many UK work environments are equally as unpleasant and in some cases even unsafe!
The in-depth study discovered a staggering 69 percent of British workers – 21 million of them – claim their workplace to be a health hazard according to a recent study my Hayward Baker
· 35 percent of working Brits have picked up an illness from their place of work – with 18 percent claiming to have been struck down with food poisoning or caught a stomach bug because of dirty conditions.
· A further 39 percent have even suffered an injury at work – with two in ten (20 percent) Brits having been to hospital due to a work-related illness or injury.
· Shockingly, almost half (46 percent) of those polled complained to their bosses about the state of their place of work, with a further 21 percent saying their manager did nothing to rectify the situation.
The research was commissioned by Hayward Barker is nothing if not shocking for me that in our country in this day and age that so many of the UK’s workforce is left in these kinds of predicaments and no wonder so many people are looking at injury compensation calculators to ensure they get the support they need after accidents.
I genuinely think I am one of the lucky ones being able to work in my own space under my own steam.
If you have a work story to tell I would love to hear it so please feel free to pop a comment below and tell me.
