Recently we were sent out the ADVANSAFIX IV R from Britax Römer to take a look at and I was really excited. The reason? This is the car seat that might revolutionise many parenting stresses.
Some families need to travel with 3 car seats on the back seat and up to this point no matter what combinations, there has never been anything designed slim enough to allow this, even in the biggest of family cars.
Till now …
The Britax Römer ADVANSAFIX IV R car seat can be used from 9 to 36kgs (approx 9 months – 12 years) and comes with a unique set of features! The seat can be transformed from using a 5 point harness into a high back booster with just a click of a button and with no removal of the 5 point harness. Having a 2 year old and a 7 year old this means that we could easily change the seat for either of our children to use and for those of you needing to use 3 seats in the back of this car. I am super pleased to say this slim base beauty might just be your saving grace as in some larger family cars you can fit 3 of them across the back seat!
The Britax Römer ADVANSAFIX IV R offers everything I have come to expect from the leading car seat brand with its adjustable SICT (side impact protection system) deep protective side wings and its unique SecureGuard technology that offers a unique frontal impact protection for older children by positioning the lap belt correctly.
In the event of a frontal collision, the seat has the Britax Römer’s patented Pivot Link ISOFIX system which directs the force downwards into the vehicle seat, thereby decreasing the risk of head and neck injury, while the Top Tether with rip stitch technology helps reduce the forward movement of the child. The Top Tether’s unique stitch pattern has been designed to progressively rip in a controlled fashion, absorbing the force of the frontal impact. The special V-shaped form of the headrest controls the movement of the child’s head in an impact.
But the biggest thing is … how did we get on trying the seat?
Well, it was super easy to install with ISOFIX and the Top Tether. It took only minutes to install the seat and with the easily adjustable headrest, Jacob was in it within minutes and he looked really comfortable.
Changing To A High-backed Booster
To swap the seat from the 5 point harness to the 3 point integrated harness for older children, you do need to pop the seat out and lift the seat covers up to thread the seatbelt into the seat and then there is a new FLIP&GROW function button on the back that releases the harness and allows you to then use the normal integrated car seat belt once you put the cover back in place with the poppers on it.
I personally love how this seat can be adapted so it can be used from approximately 9 months through to 12 years, which offers exceptional value for money for long term use!
The ADVANSAFIX IV R comes in 10 premium colour options: Cosmos Black, Fire Red, Storm Grey, Moonlight Blue, Wine Rose, Grey Marble, Blue Marble, Crystal Black, Air Black and Air Silver and retails at around £250
