Learning is something I have been eager to do all through my life.
After finishing secondary school I headed to college to start on the NNEB course to work with children. Only after completing I decided that I in fact hated working with children and decided to retrain as a legal secretary. It was at this point in my life that I started developing my 2 year learning itch. Building on my skills I signed up to new courses practically every 2 years after completing the previous course.
I specialised in Human Resources and management and enjoyed every minute of it. But after a redundancy 7 years ago I decided to build an online business and so my blogs were born, my social channels created and a new era of my life began, an online life to share with anyone that wanted to read it.
For the last 6 years I have loved the extremes that my job online entails, I have loved the experiences and loved every second of learning new things but I hit a wall a few months ago feeling totally isolated, living online meant that I missed people. I missed the interaction that only a people focused role gives.
It was during that same month that I was given an opportunity to discover what learning something completely new would be like from tots100.
Tots100 had a client contact that wanted to share what it was really like to learn a new skill and to then go and work for yourself in the beauty industry. Even more exciting for me was the fact that for the last 15 years I had been a massive fan of the treatments and regularly had them done myself so knew the benefits of the brand before I applied.
Bio Sculpture is a premium quality nail care system that has been designed to not damage the natural nail and to give beautiful results from overlays on the natural nail and can be used to lengthen nails too.
Having spent all my childhood and teens being a prolific nail biter my nails had been damaged and I struggled to not only grow my nails but to get any degree of strength in them. Having used Bio Sculpture for many years my nails are in better condition and I am able to grow my own nails while wearing the Bio Sculpture gel over the top.
Although I had never thought of myself as someone that would work in the beauty industry I had my mind changed after attending my first training day recently because not only do I know how having such nice nails can make someone feel great I now know I have been missing face to face interaction more than I thought!
Bio Sculpture offers training packages all over the UK and my package of courses cover 3 full training days with plenty of practice in-between. The first element was manicure, where we learnt about the finger and the nails structure, how to care for it and what can go wrong. We learnt how to use manicure tools properly and why and how important nail care is for healthy hands. We partnered up and my lovely partner was super patient as i was her hand model and she was mine. I had no nails after taking my extensions off several days before the training day so my poor partner had a really hard job with my nails. I on the other hand had a lovely base to work with as her nails were lovely.
I left my first training day even more excited than I had been on the journey to training. It has made me realise that face to face interaction is what I have missed and that making people feel better about themselves is priceless.
The initial elements of the course I had been given were, manicure, intro to colour and colour then assessment .. However I have been so thrilled with learning this new skill I have paid for and signed up for the lengthening element too. I love that I might be able to make this new skill into part of my family income while still being flexible.
Training day 2, intro to colour only made me feel even more positive that I will be seeing Bio Sculpture in my future and not just on my own nails.
I came home mentally frazzled after intro to colour but eager to get some practice in on some friends after completing my first attempts at working with Bio Sculpture gel.
I know I have lots to learn still, and I will need to do lots and lots of practice so watch this space……
Disclaimer: I am receiving complimentary training for the purposes of these post. However I have paid for part of the training I will be receiving myself later in the course. All thought’s and opinions were independently formed by members of The Oliver’s Madhouse.
