Over the last 8 years the garden has become a hive of activity with 2 boys and a football.
Free time seems to have been limited and so after checking out the garden recently before we reviewed the beautiful bench from Garden Benches I took a long hard look at what had been our once loved and well-kept outside space. And if I am honest it was looking rather rough and shabby round the edges.
The large boarder at the back was tired and battered and some of the plants were pot bound causing the plants to not grow as they should and it was no longer a space I was proud of. Every time I looked out the back windows all I was saw was work but the thought of starting it was something I kept putting off.
The garden fences needed repairing and panting, the log-rolling edges needed repairing. The pots wanted rescuing by either potting on or starting a fresh and a general garden tidy up was needed including re painting the playhouse.
We have been back from holiday almost 2 months and had kept putting off the start of the tidy up mission but thankfully last week Ollie had 2 days off work during the week and finally had time to help make a start and first on the list was the pot bound foliage.
I decided that the large pots from the back border were going to be moved to the slightly smaller in width one on the side near the patio. Of all the black pots with plants that I had I only managed to save 2 plants for reuse on the patio border.
After a day in the garden we have finally made a proper start to our new revamped garden. The fence painting is well under way, the boarder at the back is almost ready for a fresh layer of black weed matting and its topping of purple and green slate and its new shiny black matching tubs ready for all new evergreen plants again with weed matting and slate on the top to help make the garden as low maintenance as possible going forward.
Here’s to finally getting one step closer to my relaxing garden space.
