I have worn glasses most of my life with a lazy eye that I have had since birth I have always had my eye sight monitored.
When I turned 5 I had to wear glasses for all my close work and watching TV. I was horrified and cried that my best friend Lindsey wouldn’t want to be my friend anymore with my ugly plastic glasses.
Thankfully my friend wasn’t shallow, and I survived my childhood with the nasty NHS prescription glasses and half my ego in tact.
So when Joshua turned 4, being the paranoid parent I am I wanted to make sure that this eye sight was ok ready for his journey into school and so headed to my local opticians, SpecSavers in the next town to see what they thought.
I loved how patient they were with him as let’s be honest some of those machines can be super scary especially to a little one, however he passed his eye test with flying colours and was sad he didn’t get to wear glasses.
This week it was my turn to have my eye check up and once again my little side kick came with me.
Now I am hold hat to the testing and they didn’t tell me anything I wasn’t already aware of, in that my sight is bad in one eye and the other eye makes up for it, hence getting headaches and eye strains but my least favourite job was next
I get so engrossed in trying on every single pair that I normally end up with a dozen pairs I can’t live without at the end and can’t decide. However thankfully with the help of my little partner in glasses crime Joshua helped me whittle it down and the super patient Toni was there to assist!
I finally got it down to 3 pairs and so most of the staff got involved thank goodness and rescued me and all said the same 2!
However not to be left out of the fun Joshua got quite excited with the children’s glasses and I have to say I am immensely impressed with not only the fact that all plastic nasty NHS style frames from the 90’s have gone but the fact that SpecSavers have a massive range of glasses themed with some of Joshua’s most loved films
To celebrate the new Disney adventure film Moana, Specsavers has launched a new collection this week of frames into the range with four different frames to choose from in the vibrant colours and patterns of the South Pacific, all featuring the spirited adventurer herself, Moana.
All Moana frames come with single-vision lenses including UV filter and are part of our kids two free pairs offer.
Which I think is not only amazing due to the two free pairs offer for kids but also the frames were so stylish too and were on Joshua’s hit list if he were choosing.
I honestly thought this weeks trip was going to be somewhat stressful but the staff in our local store were amazing and so helpful with Joshua, although thankfully I managed to cover up his tears before they spotted them as he wanted to take his glasses home!
See you in a week SpecSavers when I come and pick up my beautiful new glasses … and I apologise in advance if my small fella cries at not taking ‘his’ home, I have tried explaining his eyes sight is great but apparently they are just so “cool”.
