Recently we were asked to road test a Summer Infant Baby Glow Video Monitor and I jumped at the chance, even though Jacob is my 3rd baby I have never had a video monitor of my own, I have used other people’s monitors and spent a great deal of time researching them but still have never got round to owning one myself.
When the Summer Infant Baby Glow Video Monitor arrived I am not sure what I had expected but it came in a lovely compact box and both the camera and monitor were a super size, not too big and bulky for the camera so it’s not intrusive in the room and the monitor is a great size to see the screen easily and with the zoom in function it means you don’t need anything bigger.
The Summer Infant Baby Glow Video Monitor recently won Gold at the Prima Baby Awards and I can certainly see why, I love technology but not when its starts to get complicated or clunky, neither of which you could attribute to this system.
It’s easy to navigate round the features (even without the manual) and it makes for keeping an eye on baby super stress free.
Don’t get me wrong either this monitor is still packed with super technology inside with its 100% digital technology that is built-in to ensure privacy and security and with a really reasonable reach it certainly worked all through our house and the garden too.
I love the option of being able to add in extra cameras so should you still need a camera for another little one you don’t have to carry multiple monitors for each you can flick through them using one system, although we did only use the system with the one supplied as our other child is 5.
The main test for me was to try out the monitor in very low light (night-light) and complete darkness as most monitors have a clear display in great lighting so putting it to the test in harder lighting conditions really was a must for me.
I was not disappointed, the footage in very low light and complete darkness was excellent and with the video brightness controls it really did make it very clear viewing.
The parent monitor is a lovely size being 2.8 inch display and if can either be plugged into the mains or can be used without as it is self charging like a phone. It also comes with a stand on the back so no extra fiddley bits needed.
My most favourite parts on the Summer Infant Baby Glow Digital Monitor are the 5 lullabies and the 3 colour projector built into the camera unit, so everything really is built into one unit.
The colour projector I expected to be a really small light pattern the ceiling as the camera unit is fairly small but it took up about half my bedroom ceiling and was really rather impressed … not to mention thrilled as it was really quite mesmerising to watch.
There is a really sensitive microphone in the camera unit and on the parent unit there are LED lights indicating noise level up the left hand side of the unit.
Overall we loved this video monitor system, it was super easy from the off making for a really great pairing between ease of use and technology meaning you don’t need a degree in electronics to work it. I also loved the option to wall mount the camera so you can really get the angle you need no matter how obscure as the swivel on the stand is excellent too!
I think the Summer Infant Baby Glow Video Monitor is fabulous and even for a non techie its a super simple system but with technology packed inside, it’s currently retailing at £119.99 which I think is a reasonable price for this product and with the option of adding on more cameras (cameras sold separately) it’s a great option for multiple children too!
