It’s not news to say I am a plus sized women, you all know it and I know it myself.
What I am going to admit to is hating the summer months when the rest of the world is stripping off and all I want to do is cringe with embarrassment and to try not to cry at how uncomfortable I feel in my own skin.
This year I have finally found the way forward with my summer wardrobe and its based around key pieces and well-fitting tops!
My newest love is patterned harem trousers. Who says you have to unveil your legs in the Summer? I hate my legs and so the thought of getting them out is not one I like to dwell on. So my summer wardrobe is based on lightweight fabrics that flow and move and by pairing with either a flowing sleeveless top during the day and low flip-flops or to dress it up a more structured top and adding some scrappy heels means that I have an 2 outfits with just a change of the top.
The same goes for linen trousers, they are so easy to wear and can incredibly summery depending upon what you pair them with.
Another of my loves this summer are cropped trousers, I think they are a more flattering shape and show skin without being too obviously on show. I have added in a couple of my loves in the shorts department too, after all there will be times that I don’t mind showing my legs and that is on the garden with the kids while soaking up as much vitamin D as possible but for me the shorts have to be practically knee-length and light weight with thigh skimming structure.
My summer tops this year have been another of my saving graces with well-fitting tops from retailers like JD Williams and Simply Be who understand women tops and how to shape them to real plus sized women I have honestly never felt so comfortable.
I was lucky enough to be sent some of my favourite styles from my selection above and I am even more thrilled with them than I thought I would be. They are well made, have beautiful detailing, fitted tailoring in all the right places and to top it off they have been washed well.
So if like me you are on your plus sized summer wardrobe mission, what key pieces are in your wardrobe this year?
