Sunshine And Sandcastles in Skegness

Sunshine And Sandcastles in Skegness The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseAlthough the weather is becoming more and more Winter like, last Saturday we decided to make the most of a rare Saturday off for Ollie and we set out for some fresh air and fish and chips in Skegness.

Now since Skegness is our nearest coast it seems strange that we have never visited it as a couple nor have we thought to take Joshua there. Bethany was lucky to have family on her Dad’s side nearby so visited several times a month when she was younger.

Sunshine And Sandcastles in Skegness The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseAfter an early start we made the way there easily and just in time for some breakfast!

We walked round the shops, we visited some fudge stalls, Joshua got some new trainers and we visited Chip Pan Alley for some delicious Fish and Chips and we even managed to squeeze in some time on the 2p machines in the arcades .. although we didn’t win.

The best bit of the day by far was sitting on that beach and watching Joshua dig in the sand and run round with the breeze in his hair.

It may of been the end of October but by goodness it was such a lovely day the weather was lovely and calm and there was not a single drop of rain.

There really is nothing like sitting on a beach while the wind skims your face and blows all those cares and worries away, all the while watching a toddlers face of pure joy with his bucket and spade and a whole empty beach to himself!

Sunshine And Sandcastles in Skegness The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseSunshine And Sandcastles in Skegness The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseDays like these really are perfect to put life back into perspective and to reconnect as a family.

Now if only life didn’t get in the way quite so much maybe we would get more time to go to the beach! … if only

What a perfect day, such lovely pictures. We are going to tick off one of our autumn bucket list adventures this weekend which is dip our feet (in Welles or not) in the sea. I’m very lucky to live 2 minute walk from the coast. I love it whatever the weather xx #countrykids

Every time I go to the beach I promise to go back more. We only managed one visit all half term but like you it was a lovely family day and the waves were huge as it was just after the storms making body boarding great fun. Looks like Joshua was very happy in his overalls with a bucket in hand. Think of this day when you feel in need of some family time and make sure you do it again! Thank you for sharing on Country Kids

What a lovely day. I used to always go as a kid – have they still got the model village there? I have to say don’t think my kids have been. We used to go to Weston most weeks but don’t get the time as much anymore. Chips though – yum has to be done.

I love the beach, even though my toddler is a little wary of the water! But he does love the sand and I love the breeze on our faces. We’re lucky to live right next to the coastline in Dubai and now that the weather’s getting better, I miss no opportunity to get to the sea! Joshua is such a darling 🙂 #CountryKids

We always used to go to the beach on New Years Day, and I loved it rain or shine! We don’t do the beach often in the summer because OH and Miss I can’t handle to much sun. However, it’s a definite bonus to get some good weather on an ‘unseasonal’ trip to the seaside when you have small people with you. You get the beach to yourself and you can stay as long as you like because everyone is happy!
