In this house pasta dishes are a staple for after school teatimes as they can be easy to prepare and yet super tasty which keeps both me happy and the kids happy too.
Recently we were asked to share some our most favourite tea time pasta dishes with Barilla, Italy’s biggest pasta brand and so here are some of our super easy dishes that make ideal some of out much-loved tea time favourites.
Meatballs With Chilli Sauce
Depending on what time I have available I love to cook our meatballs in our Philips AirFryer and I tend to batch cook them and pop several servings in the freezer so I can grab and go.
For the rest of this dish its super simple, add in some frozen peppers into the Barilla Arrabbiata Tomato and chilli sauce to boost our veg and goodness intake brown off the meatballs and then throw it all together.
Cook some pasta of your choice but for us we added in the Tortiglioni and its ready to serve.
Mediterranean Vegetable Pasta Bake
I used the fusilli pasta (200g) and part cooked it then rinsed and added to a Pyrex dish. I mixed in a jar of the Barilla Mediterranean Vegetable sauce and then half filled the jar with water and mixed it all in together.
I cooked for 40 mins in the oven (160 degrees c) with foil covering the top then removed the foil and covered with grated cheese.
What I loved about this dish is it can be prepared earlier in the day and thrown in the oven whenever you like. I also like the fact you can add in chicken or even sausages if you liked too!
This dish goes down really well, especially on a school night when everyone is super busy.
Spaghetti Bolognese (With added vegetables)
For us it’s really important to increase the vegetable intake for the kids and love nothing more than adding vegetables into meals we know that they will be eaten and by using the Barilla’s jar of Basilico sauce and using fresh or frozen peppers, mushrooms (diced very small so they are not spotted!) opinions and sometimes even peas it’s one of the quickest meals we cook.
I tend to batch cook this recipe into foil containers and freeze them so on really hectic days I can take one out before we leave the house in the morning and cook pasta on coming home and heat the sauce and we have a home cooked meal in super quick time.
