It has been a while coming.
Normally with sickness and bugs we tend to be the first to go down with anything so surprisingly its taken till the end of Feb before poor little Jacob finally caught the dreaded Pox
On the Wednesday morning after his Monday and Tuesday nursery sessions he was grumpy, this is not really unusual when he is tired but he was really grumpy. To be honest I put it down some really horrific nights of sleep and let him have longer napping. The following morning while getting him up I noticed 2 giant spots on his face and on getting him dressed we then noticed his post little body was covered in spots.
Other than being a little under the weather we have been immensely lucky that Jacob has had no major issues with them and only spent a few hours being scratchy. I think it helped with Paracetamol, Antihistamine and calamine lotion and keeping the house cool.
Thankfully all his spot have now scabbed and have practically all disappeared so he is back to nursery today after ten days off at home.
To be honest I know we got immensely lucky with how Jacob got them as I know that so many people suffer so much more than he did. I remember having Chicken Pox when I was young (around 6-7 years) and my sister and I spent most of the summer holidays covered in calamine lotion quarantined and bored so I am glad this childhood illness is behind us now, thank goodness Jacob is through the other side and we don’t have to cover him in calamine lotion .. That stuff is super runny!
