Some of my more regular readers will already know that I suffer with acute pelvic pain stemming from SPD that will only be rectified with surgery.
So it won’t come as a surprise that with having such a painful condition that means I have no stability in my pelvis my hips and back take the brunt of the pain, particularly through the night.
I have a small baby who is coming up for 8 months old and sleeps like a dream … however I do not.
I have been waking 2 -3 times a night and been restless for 15+ times since I was pregnant with my first son 6 years ago.
I wrote recently about how soul-destroying it can be to suffer with sleep deprivation and it would be fair to say my quality of sleep is utter pants.
Needless to say when we got the opportunity to try out a revolutionary mattress from Eve we jumped at it.
If you have missed the recent TV adverts let me fill you in!
Eve only have one mattress that comes in 12 different sizes and the reason for that is they claim they put all their best ideas into creating the perfect mattress so I was totally banking on this being the ‘one’
When it arrived it came in a box that was very small in comparison to what was inside! … However it was heavy so I can highly recommend 2 people taking it up the stairs!
On sliding out the mattress from the box you can clearly see its iconic yellow edges, although until you have undone the plastic seal you have no idea of how tall the mattress is.
I cut the plastic open and within a few minutes it was gushing to get out its plastic wrapping and so I slid it into place.
The first thing I noticed once it was completely out the bag was the lovely depth to it compared to the thickness it arrived in… so you need to give it a while to fully expand. I was impressed at this stage at how it looked.
It has some thick seams and eye-catching yellow side trim.
One of the final things I noticed and loved about the mattress was the airflow top cover that instantly made me feel much better about using a memory foam mattress.
In the past some memory foam mattresses have had bad press of them making you sweaty. During the winter this was not an issue but during warmer nights I do have to reduce clothing so it is worth baring in mind.
Prior to using the eve mattress I mentioned earlier that I was constantly tired and struggled to get any quality of sleep … but my sleep has improved compared but I so still wake several times a night. This could of course be down to my physical condition as opposed to the mattress. But I would certainly take an improvement over no improvement.
Before I struggled with our previous mattress with Ollie and I rolling into each other and continually made barriers with the duvet just to stop us crashing in the middle, we also had a tendency to wake each other up in the night if one of us got out of bed the moment would wake the other too, this has certainly not been the case for this mattress.
In fact it has been like sleeping on a foam nest as it creates a dip in the position you sleep in.
It comes with a 100 days no quibble exchange offer and the current retail price of £549 for our mattress size (UK double)
Thank you Eve for allowing me test drive your mattress.
9 Month update:
My husband still love this mattress as he prefers a softer mattress than me. I still love its squishiness but while sleeping I am needing a firmer more supportive mattress I fear these days.
