Its been a well documented fact that my cooking ability is … well rubbish!
So this week after most of my adult life I have avoid the kitchen I took the bull by the horns and decided my fear of baking was not going to rub off on my little man. So we set about making some cupcakes (via packet mix)
Now normally my OCD cleaning tendencies at this stage would be on high alert at the fact my kitchen is going to be covered by a toddler how ever with some deep breathing and a pack of antibacterial wipes I remained calm!
So once we got the eggs and water in the bowl followed by the packet ingredients it was finally time to unleash the toddler with his growing enthusiasm.
Now since we are not equipped with many baking utensils, without the use of an electric whisk we had to make do with a hand whisk …. soon Mummy and Joshua gave in and Daddy was entrusted to ensure all the special mixture was properly ready…. Next came the filling of cupcake cases, now this is no mean feat when you don’t own the right tray, but my baking naivety was not going to stop us now we were on a roll.
However my little man was absolutely overjoyed with the results! (phew still not a failure in his eyes!)
We decorated them with butter-cream topping and white chocolate stars, however at this point Joshua was more interested in eating the topping and stars than actually decorating them.
- I need to buy an electric whisk
- I need to purchase a proper tray
- I can bake, although not well .. yet, although I can learn
- I am not as annually retentive about mess as I thought … ok maybe a little bit
- My son loved it and therefore I did too ….
