I discovered the Graco Swivi Booster Seat when I was a guest with Graco at the Kind & Jugend trade show in Germany in September and I spotted it from entering the stand and was instantly intrigued.
We had struggled with Joshua finding somewhere to put a highchair in our kitchen when not in use and had often fallen over it and cursed … add in when we began his weaning him we were restricted to using a cradle seat as most high chairs didn’t really recline so the whole weaning and feeding thing had pretty much been a battle of space and function.
The Swivi Seat Booster is quite unique on the market as it is the only seat I am currently aware of that can be used from new-born all the way through to toddlers and this 3 in 1 seat not only swivels 180 degrees side to side it also reclines, which for me was what really made me fall in love with it in September …
Being able to add baby to the table from birth is not only safer than a cradle seat on floor but also family time for us tends to stem from meals together and so adding baby is just a really nice way to keep our quality time going!
When the Graco Swivi Booster seat arrived I was really exited to really get to play with it and to even use it in real life with my Goddaughter who is 2, also ideas are one thing but using it in real life is something completely different so it was time to see if this worked as I had hoped.
Fitting the seat to a dining chair Hubster was certain that it would be too big to fit onto our ikea dining chairs but it wasn’t, however all was not as plain sailing as I thought as our chairs are flat backed and are not very heavy weight as most.
Attaching the Graco Swivi Booster Seat you do it by an adjustable strap that goes underneath and one from the back of the booster seat base, which worked fantastically on a standard dining chair but not quite so on ours as it sat on the bend of the chair back so we couldn’t get the straps tight enough to stop it wobbling ….
However I did manage to sort it by twisting the straps round the base and it worked perfectly and we were able to get it so the seat didn’t move an inch!
I did love the fact that the seat is portable and so we could easily move it from house to house meaning that not every relative or friend needed a high chair as with 2 clicks it can be put in the boot of the car and taken with you!
I also loved the fact that the tray comes with 2 parts of the tray so you can whip one part off after lunch and there is a clean one underneath for pudding! … And the fact that both parts are dishwasher safe and can be totally taken off or adjusted with the squeeze handle underneath.
The seat comes with easily removable pads on the base and the back (they attach with velcro) and it even comes with a newborn liner that you can insert that gives more padding when using it in the early months.
The final icing on the cake was actually using it with Freya and seeing what she thought of it … or at least if she would sit in it without tears and also how she fitted with us at the table and with the seat being swiveled:
Overall I am as thrilled with the Graco Swivi Seat now as when I saw it in September, I love how practical is it, how it can be used from birth to toddlerhood meaning the initial purchase price of £79.99 is more than acceptable if it’s the only booster/high chair you need to purchase and as of yet I can’t see why you would need to buy anything else.
Freya was sat at a lovely height in the seat meaning we could use the tray or even take it off and pull her in to fit at the table for mealtime use.
The seat is user-friendly and has been very well thought through with its easy on off tray and the adaptability from newborn through to toddler with its removable back and reclining function.
The only thing I would like to see is more colour variety than the 2 current ones on offer of lime and pink and it would be nice to have the option to buy the velcro cover/pads separately too, so if they get messy and you need to deep clean you can pop another set on while the others dry (although these are purely my own opinions of how to make something I love 99% to that magic 100% perfect!
Thanks Graco I am looking forward to getting my little man into this seat once he is born!
