Hitting the first birthday marked a massive moment in Jacobs life … but what is this next stage?
Officially according to wikipedia its toddlerhood and it starts from 12-36 months but so many thing don’t see 1 as being a toddler.
Many clothing stores only start their toddler ranges till 24 months, not to mention some soft play, have only babies under 12 months area and then in the bigger area he is expected to go it alone with the bigger kids.
Jacob is no longer a baby but he’s not quite into the toddlerhood stage, still so much a baby in one sense but too independent in others to be classed as baby.
Frustrations are at an epic level as he wants to do so much for himself and he just can’t manage to load the washer or empty the recycling, although he gives it a good go.
He has also become a creature of obsession, for chocolate and even Pringles … In fact he just cant get enough of Pringles and cries when the tube is empty.
Thankfully it’s not just unhealthy snacks he can’t get enough off, as grapes are up there on the list too along with grated (it has to be grated) cheese and whole apples (yep that’s right whole so he can hold it in both hands)
Mixed into this new limbo land is the fresh freedom walking gives them, although it’s too tiring at 1 to walk everywhere but man does he want to. In fact any excuse to get outside but still being this small means he obviously has to taste and eat everything in sight so it can make outside activities more time-consuming and certainly not as playful as a ‘real’ toddler. Also climbing in and out the Little Tikes car without ever-moving is a must as the co-ordination isn’t there either and who needs to travel anywhere in it either.
Surly this crazy hectic stage needs a name of its own so what can we call this stage in development?
For now Jacob is in limbo land … the land of no name.
