I have been super lucky over the last couple of months to have been road testing the newest offering from BabyStyle’s pushchair range, The Oyster Atom.
This pushchair is designed to fold with one hand and in a really compact way along with being able to free stand when folded meaning it has made light work of travelling!
It weighs in at 7.9kgs so it fits nicely in what I would call the light weight range for its weight and currently comes in 2 colours, tungsten grey or wow pink. When it arrived I have to say the colour is in my opinion more a grey, beige than an out-and-out grey but I think its lush with a textured flick through it.
I didn’t expect to love this as much as I did but the Oyster Atom takes many of the features I love from its other pushchairs and combines them in this travel friendly offering.
The fold really can be actioned with just one hand with its double depress buttons located on the middle of the handle bar.
It has an eye-catching bumper bar that is easy to drop down with buttons at the base so getting very wiggly children in it is easy. I must admit Jacob either played driving with his bumper bar or rested his legs on it … but it certainly went down a storm.
Reclining the pushchair is super easy with its toggle on the back and it is advertised as being usable from birth which obviously didn’t affect us but Jacob loved the lie flat position for napping with its adjustable footrest.
The hood is a good size and comes with the extendable sun visor peak on the front. If I am honest I would have loved to have seen the sun visor element as big as it is on BabyStyles other pushchairs like the Zero and the Hybrid but it didn’t affect its use I think I have just been overly spoilt with the other models.
Once again BabyStlye have the needs of parents sorted with its generously sized basket. I honestly didn’t expect it since it’s a lightweight pushchair and I think the same about the seat unit too so will more than cater for its maximum weight of 15kgs.
If you have followed me for a while you will know one aspect of pushchairs that I tend to be negative of is rain covers. The Oyster Atom comes with the raincover included and although its more than functional with its velcro seams for fitting I would have loved to have seen the popper fitting like the zero as velcro can be super fiddly, although like the sun visor these really are my own personal preference.
The fold is by far one of my favourite aspects of this pushchair as I no longer feel my car boot is just for the pushchair and I can now add in shopping bags too.
It also makes for a great travelling pushchair when we are travelling round London and even camping.
We have been nipping over most terrains with the nimble Atom from pavements, grass, sand and cobbles and its handled them well with the help of the all round suspension and this has only added to my love of the Atom pushchair.
Thanks BabyStyle for allowing us to test drive the Oyster Atom, we love it.
The BabyStyle Oyster Atom currently retails at £199
