Some things are key to our festive season like the arrival of the Elf on the shelf, our is named Cecil. Followed by a trip to see Santa, A family gathering or 3 and if we are very luck several trips to some garden centres.
I know before a few years ago I would not have said going to a garden centre was a “Christmassy” thing to do. However we seem to be surrounded in amazing garden centres here in Nottingham and they all take the Christmas magic to epic levels.
So last weekend we decided to head out to one of our favourite Garden Centres to start to feel a little more festive.
On arriving it was obvious for all to see that it was beyond busy and so many families had the same idea as us with folks milling around in abundance.
With every different colour bauble possible and enough tinsel to kit out a whole city it was a fairly breathtaking sight
For Jacob who is celebrating his first Christmas it was so lovely to see his face watching the twinkling lights and trying to comprehend what all the glitter and sparkle was all about and still failing as he has no idea what it’s all about.
In just a few weeks he is going to be coming down stairs on Christmas morning to see gifts when we know all he will be bothered about is boxes! … He loves a good box and anything he can crawl to and eat.
While we were there my newest obsession was in overdrive as I spotted snow globe after snow globe that I could have piled our basket high with …
However we did decide to add to our fairly limited Christmas decorations with a new addition in the form a small snow globe of Santa coming out of a box.
Wondering up and down the Garden Centre taking in everything that was Christmas really was such a lovely start to the next few weeks of chaos with school nativities, Christmas lunches, family gatherings and a whole heap of food shopping to do.
I really am looking forward to everything that this year has to offer.
