Last week I was nervous, but positive and started by smoking the remaining fags I had and making myself feel rather sick. Ridiculous I know but I wanted to make sure I had no more in the house and being so expensive I just couldn’t face chucking them.
I awoke on the first day of my non smoking feeling completely sick with just the thought of smoking so this made for a great start!
After the most horrifically stressful weekend with projectile toddler diarrhoea and puke and last-minute assignments and I did not crack! I have been using my inhalator mainly in the evening, not everyday and only for a few puffs.
Monday (day 5) has so far been the hardest, I craved fags, chocolate and pickled onions (I am not pregnant!) I was very irritable with the shortest fuse ever, but I am still smoke free and the side effects are back down to minimal.
Although the one side effect I have struggled with for the last 3 days that is becoming annoying is the insomnia, I have seen pretty much each hour in the last 72 hours and although I am tired I just can’t sleep! I do hope this goes away soon as I have some serious sleep to catch up on!
This week with it being half term my lovely Smoke Free Advisor Mr D slotted round my parental commitments and instead of going in for an appointment in store we had a phone consultation instead and we chatted about if I wanted to change my NRT (Nicotine Replacement Therapy) and if I was happy at that level, however It seems I am doing super well having only used 2 cartridges out of 12 I bought last week.
I am really excited that a week on I am not feeling half as bad as I thought I would feel. I am still really happy that I have achieved a week being smoke free as going cold turkey in September was really ineffective and really knocked my confidence.
For the first time I really do think I can do this …. Here is to the next week!
