I have posted in the past about my on going Symphysis pubis dysfunction (SPD or also known as Pelvic Girdle Pain) since my 7th month of pregnancy with Joshua now aged 4.
The fact I was one of the super unlucky people who condition never improved after the birth of my son and the consultant has confirmed that surgery and pinning the pieces of my pelvis together maybe my only option.
In my last pregnancy I was enormous and after losing the 4.5 stone after my previous pregnancy I was in great shape for trying to conceive this time, however giving up smoking 18 months ago, followed by the 2 operations have left me gaining back the weight I lost and so this time round I am taking on a pregnancy with almost all the previous pregnancy weight I had lost and yet more to gain throughout this pregnancy! … it will come as no surprise that now being just shy of 4 months pregnant and the extra weight I am back to being in full-blown agony and only dreading as to what pain will be like at month 9.
Needless to say exercise has and physical activity have not been high on my priority list, however this is not good for a health pregnancy and even with my pelvic problems the weight gain in pregnancy is only ever going to make my back ache and I know I am not alone with back pain through pregnancy so when I was asked to try out the Deep Freeze Cold Patches I jumped at the chance (hypothetically speaking that is)
I loved the fact that each box has 4 individual patches inside and that they are super easy to apply with a peel off backing and what I really loved most was the fact you can peel them off your back and reposition them so if the pain migrates you can move them!
What I also loved about them was the fact they do not hinder any kind of movements so they can be left on while walking or taking light exercise … what did take my breath away was the instant cold feeling on putting it on, it’s a super cold feeling but only for the initial few seconds and is not uncomfortable it just takes my breath away and as quickly as the cold hits it’s already toning down to be a lovely cold yet bearable alternative to taking painkillers! (which you are restricted within pregnancy anyway)
It has been wonderful to discover something that is super easy to use and that helps releases the tension in my back, although for me total pain relief is not an option, finding something that even takes away a percentage of the pain is great in my book!
Now here is to the next stage of my pregnancy!
