Today’s guest post is from the lovely Sam from The 40 Year Old Domestic Goddess who I had the pleasure of meeting last June at Britmums Live, Sam’s blog is one that regularly has me in stitches as I relate to her honest posts about life with her family and her cleaning obsessions. Twas The Night Before Christmas
Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung as the flames flickered bright,
In the hope that they didn’t catch fire overnight.
The kids were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of Xbox danced in the Teens head.
And Dad in his onesie and I fully dressed,
Had opened a bottle because I was stressed.
When out on the drive there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my chair to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I hastily tore,
Spilling my wine all over the floor.
The moon on the breast of the new fallen snow,
Alerted me to something right down below.
When what to my wondering eyes should emerge,
Only Hugh Jackman right there on my verge.
“Oh Sam, Oh Sam I have watched from afar as you struggled to fit all the gifts in your car,
I’m here to lend you a helping hand”.
“Oh God” I replied barely able to stand.
“Your talents are endless it’s time for a treat”,
“Hugh Jackman” I said “Get in off the street”.
Into the house she welcomed him in,
He tripped over the dog and fell on the bin.
He picked himself up and went straight to work,
He filled all the stockings then turned with a jerk.
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
He blew me a kiss and up the chimney he rose
“GOODBYE” I shrieked with glee and delight,
“I’ll never forget your visit tonight”.
“It must stay a secret” said Hugh with a wink,
I took a step back grabbing hold of the sink.
He sprung to his sleigh to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But she heard him exclaim as he flew out of sight,
“Merry Christmas my darling and to all a Goodnight”.
