I am going to be totally honest here.
I HATE dealing with car garages, I have wasted hour upon hour waiting in them since passing my test nearly 20 years ago.
A little ten-minute job invariably end up taking longer and so I tend to avoid them like the plague. However, this doesn’t work well at keeping my car maintained.
When we bought our Vauxhall Astra Sports Tourer in October we vowed to keep it in tip top condition and so when it went in for a service a month or so back we were advised that we would need 4 new tyres to get it through its MOT in June.
Oh, the anxiety that came with that bombshell!
Recently however I was asked by the folks at Tyres On The Drive to try out their services.
Now I have to be honest and say that I have never even heard of them. So, my guess is that some of you my dear readers wont of heard of them either so let me fill you in.
Tyres On The Drive is a mobile tyre-fitting company that allows customers to book online or over the phone and have new tyres fitted, at any suitable location of their choice, whether that’s at home, at work or even at the gym! The mobile fitting units make sitting around in a garage a thing of the past meaning you can get on with other things instead of giving your time sitting in a garage waiting.
Now for me this concept is immense. I have always felt overly anxious and out of my comfort zone in garage waiting rooms and invariably what is supposed to take an hour takes nearly 2 and I can’t bare those cold plastic chairs for another 2 hours of my life.
Thankfully for me the kind folks at Tyres On The Drive came to my rescue and sent a really nice fitter and his van to my house with some new Bridgestone DriveGuard tyres and I was not only excited about the fact there was no waiting around for hours in the garage but also knowing that my car was going to be fitted with a set of fantastic Bridgestone tyres too.
The Tyres On The Drive online booking in appointment system was super easy giving you a choice sizes, brands and types of tyre so selecting could not have been easier.
Before the day of the fitting I received several emails/texts to remind me they were coming which was great and on the morning, I knew he would be with me within the 2-hour booking slot.
All I had to do once the fitter arrived was hand over my wheel nut locking key and the lovely guy just got on with it having everything he needed on his fully equipped van.
Jacob was fastened with what the fitter was doing and so we pretty much watched him fitting the tyres but it was so nice I could answer the phone and put the washer on while pottering in the kitchen while the tyres were fitted.
The job took just less than an hour and the fitter was on his way and I was left with a car with new tyres all ready for its upcoming MOT next month.
I love that Tyres On The Drive believe that the protection of the environment is a real concern, and they dispose of the scrap tyres in the most ecologically and environmentally friendly way possible. From using carefully selected professional tyre disposal companies. The old tyres are used in a number of different ways: they could be sent to remould manufacturers; used in road construction or for soft playground coverings; used as fuel at a power station; or even utilised for sea defence schemes.
Thank you Tyres On The Drive for allowing me to break away from the restrictions and appreciate my time is precious by giving it me back!
