Just before Christmas we heard that Nottingham was going to become home to a new style of fast food – Pizza!
Needless to say in a household of pizza lovers we were really excited to hear more about the concept and about what would be on offer too. Having never heard of MOD Pizza before I obviously big Google for the full low down and if you haven’t heard of it either then let me fill you in.
MOD Super Fast Pizza first opened in downtown Seattle in 2008, founded by Scott and Ally Svenson to cover not only their love of the UK MOD movement of the 60 and 70’s but also for somewhere families could get super fast and affordable pizza and thanks to Sir Charles Dunstone and business partner, Roger Taylor who have now launched the concept here in the UK and Nottingham marked their 5th UK location.
When we travel into town we have often struggled finding somewhere that can cater for family pizza eating swiftly and so were thrilled when we were asked to take a look at their new location on Nottingham’s Market Square!
When we arrived I have to say there is certainly no missing the venue, its classic black signage and lovely bistro style tables outside were really eye-catching from across the Market Square and in fact I spotted it from right across the other side within seconds.
On arriving inside I am so very pleased to say that inside was fab, with its easily played out seating it was great to be able to manoeuvre the pushchair round easily to our allocated table and after a quick explanation about how the concept worked we were ready to order.
MOD’s individual artisan-style pizzas and salads are made from scratch on order from over 30 toppings that you can customise with any toppings you like all for one price, or choose from a menu of MOD classics – all for one set price of £7.47 for a MOD Regular (11 inch pizza) or you can have a smaller child size option or a larger family sized option if you wanted too. So with 3 different sizes to choose from and so many toppings it caters for everyone.
Now if you have been round here for a while you will know that Ollie can be somewhat specific on what he eats so finding a Pizza location that will cater for his choices without adding on additional cost is epic in my book.
Both Ollie and I went for a MOD regular pizzas and customised the topping for us and Joshua had a smaller sized option and customised that too.
We also ordered the garlic bread strips with BBQ dip (there are several dips to choose from) and we went for refillable drinks (Which is always a winner when dining as a family)
The hardest bit about the whole visit was actually choosing what ingredients made the cut onto the pizza!
The staffs were super helpful and walked us through the stages of the pizza and it was so great watching all our pizzas being made from scratch in front of our very eyes!
By the time we had filled our drinks from the large selection on offer and clipped Jacob back into the highchair we were shouted up (you give names on making them) to collect the first of our pizzas as it was ready!
Only a few minutes later the following 2 made it out the oven, followed swiftly by the garlic bread strips.
Being total pizza lovers we were expecting high hopes from this crispy based artisan style pizza and not one of us were disappointed, in fact I would go so far as to say that it was the most amazingly tasty pizza we have had in a very very long time.
The toppings were there and not overpowering from one taste to another and the base was exceptional. As both Ollie and I got half way down our pizzas we did say we wished we had ordered larger …. However after finishing we were pleased we hadn’t eaten anything larger as we were both nicely full and thoroughly enjoyed our lunch.
When visiting a place for the first time and then sharing our thoughts I always try to give the rough with the smooth on the visit but we really could not fault MOD Pizza for any aspect of the visit, the venue was immaculately clean and staff were cleaning when not serving (which doesn’t always happen in other places) and the staff were really accommodating to our needs with having a baby needing a high chair and food warming.
Thanks for asking us to visit MOD Pizza, we are utterly hooked and will certainly be back when we are back in the city again.
